Dropper Label Design Flowchart

Use this guide to help simplify your design efforts + goals all while maintaining distinctiveness. Here’s a flowchart I designed to elevate your dropper bottle label design to its maximum potential.

Say bye! to cliché designs you find on free softwares and selling platforms that have zero distinctiveness and can’t be copyrighted. Not good for the heart and soul of your business. You, yourself, can conceptualize a design that fits your brand identity and stands out from the overwhelming competition that is really all too similar. Dissimilarity is a key factor in creating a look that appeals and a look that can succeed.

Let’s talk about symmetry: it’s safe, it’s patternistic (is that a word..?), it’s predictable, it’s boring! It’s not really at all creative. Which is what we need here to achieve creative distinctions. I understand that symmetry in design signals simplicity, minimalism, or in some cases: conservatism (if you want to make it political, but isn’t everything?). If any of these design codes align with your values, then yeah, go ahead and keep to a symmetrical design, but note that in design, symmetry is too familiar. Although, it’s naturally pleasing to the eye, at the end of the day, it will be challenging to illustrate uniqueness. You need a high value of creativity in order to gain distinction.

Okay, so why am I emphasizing distinction so much here? Well, because at the end of the day, if your design starts selling and becomes popular (people do buy for the design by the way), then you want to be able to protect that by all means possible. Otherwise, someone else will, and all your branding efforts will be diluted. How do you protect the look of your product labeling? Through trademarks. Even through a copyright. Yes, you can have your label design granted copyright protection. It’s rare, (remember how I was insinuating that most label designs look the same? And that’s why most can’t be copyrighted). But I have seen one label granted a copyright for its high-level of creativity represented.
